73rd Allestree Scout Group
Out & About
Adventure, exploration, and community — here's some of what we get up to.
What we get up to
Camping & residential
From overnight camps in the woods to week-long summer adventures, our young people experience the outdoors in all its forms.
Hiking & navigation
Map reading, compass work, and long walks across the Peak District — building independence and resilience along the way.
Community projects
Litter picks, charity fundraisers, and local volunteering. Making a difference in Allestree and beyond.
Climbing & caving
Indoor climbing walls and real cave systems — building confidence at height and underground in equal measure.
Cycling
Group rides along local trails and cycle paths, building road sense, fitness, and confidence on two wheels.
Archery & axe throwing
Target sports that teach focus, patience, and how to handle equipment safely and responsibly.
Pioneering & knots
Lashing poles together to build rafts, towers, and structures — real engineering with rope and wood.
First aid & life skills
CPR practice, casualty care, and the kind of practical skills that matter well beyond Scouting.
Wildlife & nature
Nature trails, farm visits, and up-close animal encounters that spark curiosity about the natural world.
